About Fraser Smith Woodworking

Brian Fraser Smith has been a woodworker since 1970 when he completed his apprenticeship with Art Espenet Carpenter, master craftsman, in Bolinas, California.

In 1975, Fraser became associated with the Mendocino Woodworker's Guild in Mendocino, CA and began handcrafting custom furniture. Thereafter he spent many years as a lead carpenter building custom homes on the Sea Ranch.

Fraser retired from carpentry in 2003 to focus solely on custom woodworking.

Specializing in local hardwoods and natural finishes, Fraser loves discovering and revealing the inherent natural beauty of his materials. His reverence for wood has led him to explore the contrast between the rough organic forms and the jewel-like qualities of finished surfaces through sculpture and turnings.

A true artisan with old-fashioned work ethic, Fraser creates custom cabinets, furniture, and doors based on his clients specific needs and desires. His work becomes a centerpiece in the home and a source of pride and beauty that is built to last for generations.
